XLhc "IRabnorsbire Society transactions. VOL. XVII. DECEMBER. 1947. SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT. 1. The first General Meeting since the commencement of war in 1939 was held at the County Buildings, Llandrindod Wells, on Saturday, the 5th July, 1947. The members were addressed by Mr. F. G. Payne, F.S.A., of the National Museum of Wales on the proposed folk museum to be opened at St. Fagans. He described the immediate possibilities and the ultimate aim of the National Museum authorities. 2. The Secretary reported that since the death of the Rev. D. Stedman Davies Major Mostyn had agreed to assist as Co. Secretary. 3. Mr. W. H. Howse has again been a fruitful source of material for this issue. We were fortunate in being able to publish an address on Radnorshire which was wirelessed some time ago. The British Broadcasting Corporation very kindly granted per- mission for this to be done. Our thanks are due for the co-operation of Mr. Howse. Mr. E. J. Coles has settled down again to his old hobby after years of service in the army and this number contains contri- butions from him as a result of his researches. 4. There is an increase of membership this year. We started with 165 and lost 7. New members amounted to 25 so that our membership is now 183. 5. Three members have died during the year. (a) Mr. Llewelyn Evan-Thomas, of Pencerrig, who had been a faithful member for many years. Pencerrig was the home of Thomas Jones the artist and we owe much to Mr. Evan-Thomas for his permission to publish extracts from Thomas Jones' diary some years ago.
