Lloyd George: Family Letters 1885-1936 Edited by Kenneth 0. Morgan These letters, selected from 2,000 now deposited in the National Library of Wales, are mainly from Lloyd George to his first wife, Margaret. They provide a unique source of information about his marriage and earlier political career which has not been available to scholars and biographers until now. The letters are full of his political activities, from his emergence in Caernarvonshire politics in the mid 1880s to the attainment of Cabinet office in 1905, and thence to the peak of his power, and they give the reader unexpected insights into the personality and methods of one of the dominating figures in modem British politics. 13 plates £ 4.50 University of Wales Press Oxford University Press
