MICROFICHE An important new research tool is now available to you. The first in a series of concordances to the chief manuscript collections of early Welsh poetry have recently been published in microfiche form. It is intended that this prepared material will form part of a corpus of Medieval Welsh texts freely available in machine- readable form for linguists and textual critics who are, at present, handicapped by the fact that the standard dictionaries are incomplete. It is hoped that concordances of a largely unedited corpus of important poetry will provide an interim lexicographical tool as well as assisting scholars interested in orthography, poetic style and diction, formulae and metrics; since personal and place names are indexed, historians can more readily exploit the resources of medieval poetry. To read these microfiche you will need access to a microfiche reader machine. There is likely to be one available in your university library or main public library. If you would like to buy one for yourself I think you will be surprised how cheap they can be. Independent 'Evaluation Reports' of the various types and makes are available from the National Reprographic Centre for documentation, Hatfield Polytechnic, Edymion Road Annexe, Hatfield, Herts., ALIO 8AU. Microfiche editions may be ordered through your local bookseller, or in case of difficulty direct from the University of Wales Press.
