A History of Wales The History of Wales will be published in six volumes under the general editorship of Professor Glanmor Williams of the University College of Swansea. The series will cover all aspects of Welsh history from the earliest times to the present day. Volume VI: Rebirth of a Nation Wales 1880-1980 Kenneth O. Morgan This is the first volume to be published in the series. It is a comprehensive survey of Wales during the last century, and covers political, social, economic, cultural, literary, religious, intellectual, and sporting aspects. The analysis spans the years of Liberal ascendancy and of national renaissance from 1880 to 1914; the period of economic depression, Labour ascendancy, and of tension between Welsh and Anglo-Welsh in 1914-45; and the economic regeneration, the social and cultural changes, and the reborn sense of political nationalism since 1945. £ 15 The History of Wales is published by Oxford University Press jointly with the University of Wales Press.
