Although this is an ideographic study of a circumscribed district within a small town, historical sources and data similar to those used in this study and the methodological techniques employed might be applied across a broader spectrum. Only by conducting comparable research into other Welsh towns can general principles be established concerning the development of Welsh urban communities in the nineteenth century.
