NEW from WALES
JOURNAL OF CELTIC LINGUISTICS
Edited by David Cram (Great Britain), James Fife (Americas), Donall 6 Baoill
(Ireland), Erich Poppe (Europe), Nicole Mutter (Reviews), D. Simon Evans
(representing the University of Wales Press Board), Martin Ball (Administration).
One volume per annum, £ 10.00 per volume, Volume 1 1991.
This new journal is edited by an international team of Celtic scholars specializing in
different areas of linguistics and working in most of the Celtic languages. The
journal invites contributions in the 'core' areas of linguistics: phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics; and will encourage work that
applies current theoretical models and refine others. In addition to these areas,
however, the journal seeks to encourage work in dialectology and sociolinguistics
(particularly in the recording of speech varieties under pressure from
standardization or language shift), bilingualism and language acquisition, and
historic linguistics.
The journal encourages contributions that examine speech data, but does not
exclude text-based analyses. Both contemporary and historical textual analysis is
welcome: that investigating syntactic aspects of the language, and that employing
the techniques of discourse analysis.
CYFRES BEIRDD Y TYWYSOGION
Bwriad y gyfres yw rhoi yn nwylo'r ysgolhaig a'r darllenydd cyffredin olygiad
cyflawn a hawdd ei ddefnyddio o waith Beirdd y Tywysogion, sef y beirdd hynny
ganai yn llysoedd tywysogion annibynnol Cymru rhwng 1100 (yn fras) a 1283, pan
ddarfu am yr olaf o'r tywysogion. Y mae i waith Beirdd y Tywysogion
bwysigrwydd eithriadol o safbwynt esthetig, hanesyddol a ieithyddol. Hyd yma,
fodd bynnag, bu anhawster eu canu, a'r ffaith mai cyfran fechan iawn ohono a
olygwyd yn foddhaol, yn rhwystr effeithiol rhag iddo gael ei werthfawrogi'n
briodol. Yn y gyfres bresennol trinnir pob bardd ar ei ben ei hun, gyda
rhagymadrodd cyffredinol yn crynhoi'r hyn a wyddys amdano, a geirfa lawn yn
cloi'r ymdriniaeth ag ef. Rhwng y rhagymadrodd a'r eirfa trinnir pob cerdd o'i
eiddo ar ei phen ei hun.
Y bwriad yw cyhoeddi saith cyfrol rhwng 1991 a 1994, ar raddfa dwy gyfrol y
flwyddyn. Cyhoeddwyd Gwaith Llywarch ap Llywelyn 'Prydydd y Moch'ym mis
Mai 1991, i'w dilyn gan gyfrol gyntaf Gwaith Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr ym mis
Rhagfyr 1991, am £ 35.00 yr un.
