CAIS AM NAWDD Y BWRDD CYNULLEIDFAOL I BENJAMIN JONES (1756-1823)* To the Reverend Ministers and worthy Gentlemen 1 Managers for the Congregational Fund The Church of Christ assembling for divine worship at Henllan amgoed in Carmarthenshire, Send greeting Revd. and Dear Sirs We once more humbly take the liberty of returning you our unworthy thanks for all past favors and Benefactions to us and other Christian Churches, & with reluctance do ask for another Favour, relying on your generous and Christian Disposition to enlarge the Interest of Christ in Wales. Having amongst us a young man Benjamin Jones who is desirous of taking upon him the work of the Christian ministry, hoping he is a good and real Christian of orthodox principles, suitable morals, and a good Classic & of other promising qualifications, yt raise our expectation of his usefulness in X's Vineyard; he being desirous of attaining Academical Learning, his circumstances not admitting it without the assistance of Christian Friends. Therefore Revd & Dear Sirs, we humbly petition you in his behalf that you be pleas'd to grant him the usual allowance towards his Education under the Tuition of the Revd Mr Davies of Abergavenny, and do recommend him as a meet object of your kind Benefactions, hoping ye shall not in the least be disappointed, but amply satified [sic] in seeing the work and Will of the Lord prosper in Your Hands, which is the prayer of your unworthy Petitioners in Christ signed with the consent of the whole Church June 18th 1774 by us David Thomas 1 John Palmer ( Elders and David John ( Deacons Richard Morgan Minister/ John Owen J Am fraslun o hanes Benjamin Jones gw.
