not been at Hand at the Time most probable they would have committed more Violence and violate her Person. On the 27th April a poor Boy happening to be near was pursued by Brackenbury and the poor Boy in order to escape the Pursuit threw off his wooden Shoes, which he carried to his Castle and never return'd them to the poor fatherless Boy. On Sunday May the 7th and the two following Sundays mangled and destroyd the turf of Elizabeth Morgan, and carried off at the same Time a few dry Bushes which she fix'd near her Dwelling to dry Linen &c. upon. May loth stealing the Turf of Joshua Davies and breaking his Cart. On the same Day Lewis Davies was also abus'd on his return with his Cart and Horses loaden with Turf they attackd, jostled, threat- en'd, and pursued him 3 fourth of a Mile and stole a Sack from him which they never returnd-May 20th John Jones Son of David Jones was also most shame- fully abus'd by draging and threatening him and throwing his Cart and Horse into a Bog. The young Man's Father who had no Concern in the late Tumult is now in Goal and his Children without a Mother are under pressing wants and also a poor Widow is now in the House of Correction without any Cause whatever, except it be ye false Oaths of his Bullies He and his Banditti being the greatest Reprobates he could find in England and elsewhere have committed such Atrocities on Scores of Individuals (to numerous to mention) by destroying their Turf &c. that it calls aloud for Vengeance. This is but a short Sketch of Brackenbury and his Bullies's Barbarity and Cruelty on Mynydd Bach.-No Person could pass and repass without being insulted, assaulted, pursued and shot after and all the diabolical Practises committed (in particular) on the Sabbath Days-by carrying Fire Arms, Shovels and other Implements suitable for their evil Purposes-such Cruelties and Barbarities irritated the Inhabitants (and no wonder if rightly considered) to demolish and pull down his Castle and his strong Holds-We are sorry to say that our Justices seems to be partial to Brackenbury's Conduct. Had they listen'd to the Complaint of the suffering Individuals his Castle might have been still standing-As we can have no Justice done at Aberystwith we hope and pray that you Honored Sir will exert yourself in our Behalf to the overthrow of ye Tyrant, and his Adherents at Aberystwith that Peace and tranquility may still abound instead of Tyranny and Oppression. No Provocation or Molestation whatever was committed by any one of the Inhabitants previous to the pulling down of his Castle-If some way or other be not contriv'd to put a stop to his Atrocities it is to be feared further Mischief and serious Consequences will ensue.
