ANNUAL REPORT FOR 1964 SPRING MEETING THE Spring Meeting was held on Saturday, 18 April, in the Lecture Hall, Depart- ment of Geography and Anthropology, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. Fifty members assembled and the Society's Chairman, Mr. J. E. R. Carson, presided. This was also the Society's Annual General Meeting. Apologies for absence were received from fifteen members. The Honorary Treasurer (Mr. H. Morris Roberts) on behalf of the Society expressed sympathy with the Chairman on the passing of his mother. The Annual Report for 1963 was presented by the Honorary Secretary (Mr. Dafydd M. Jones). The Chairman moved the adoption of the report, which was seconded by Mr. Evan D. Jones and carried. The Honorary Secretary was thanked for his services to the Society. The Honorary Treasurer presented the Financial Report for 1963. The accounts had been audited by Mr. J. Emrys Jones. On the proposition of the Chairman, seconded by Aid. Mrs. G. C. Evans, the report was adopted. Aid. Mrs. G. C. Evans proposed the re-election of the Honorary Officers en bloc. This was seconded by Mr. B. G. Owens, M.A., and carried. Dr. D. I. Evans proposed, and Mrs. Gildas Tibbott seconded, that the present members of the Executive Committee together with the Local Correspondents be re-elected. This was carried. The Chairman proposed that the three co-opted members of the Committee (viz., Mr. Evan D. Jones, B.A., F.S.A., Mr. A. H. A. Hogg, M.A., F.S.A., and Principal Thomas Parry, d.litt., F.B.A.) be elected members of the Committee. This was seconded by Dr. D. I. Evans and carried. Due to indisposition Mr. Ffransis G. Payne, M.A., F.S.A., Keeper of Material Culture at the Welsh Folk Museum, St. Fagan, could not attend to deliver his address on Welsh Peasant Costume'. It was resolved to wish Mr. Payne a speedy recovery. The paper was read by the Honorary Secretary and the projector was operated by Mr. Moelwyn I. Williams, M.A. This interesting address illustrated with 42 slides was appreciated by the members. (The address was subsequently published in Folk Life, Vol. II (1964), Journal of the Society for Folk Life Studies.) Miss A. Gower Jones, Aberaeron, made some interesting comments on the topic, and, on behalf of the Society, she thanked Mr. Payne for preparing the address and the Honorary Secretary for undertaking to read the paper. SUMMER MEETING THE Annual Field Day and Summer Meeting was held on Saturday, 4 July. About ninety members assembled at the Abbey, St. Dogmaels, and since the Chairman of the Society could not attend owing to his duties as Clerk of the Peace at the Quarter Sessions, the proceedings were conducted by the Honorary Secretary. Apologies for absence were received from twelve members. A welcome was extended to the members to this meeting, and the guest-speaker, Mr. J. Beverley Smith, M.A., of the Department of Welsh History, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, was invited to address the meeting. In a short address full of information, he dealt with the history of the district and with the building of the Abbey and its place in the life of the area.
