ANNUAL REPORT FOR 1965 SPRING MEETING THE Spring Meeting was held in the Lecture Hall, Department of Geography and Anthropology, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, on Saturday, 24 April. This was also the Society's Annual General Meeting. About fifty members assembled, and apologies for absence were received from seventeen members. In the absence of both the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman the Chair was taken by Mr. G. G. Davies, B.A., Headmaster-designate of Aberaeron County Secondary School. Reference was made to the passing of two members of the Executive Committee, namely, Mr. Tom Evans, M.A., Cardigan, and Clr. Edward Lewis, O.B.E., Llandysul, who was also Local Correspondent for Llandysul. Members stood in silent tribute to their memory. The Honorary Secretary (Mr. Dafydd M. Jones) presented the Annual Report for 1964 and this was adopted. The Honorary Secretary was thanked for his services. In the absence of the Honorary Treasurer (Mr. H. Morris Roberts), the Honorary Secretary presented the financial report together with the Balance Sheet which had been audited by Mr. J. Emrys Jones. The report was adopted. The present Honorary Officers were re-elected en bloc, and the Executive Com- mittee was also re-elected. Miss Kathleen Humphreys, Llanfarian, and Mr. G. G. Davies, B.A., Aberystwyth, were elected to fill the vacancies caused by the passing of Professor T. Jones Pierce and Mr. Tom Evans. Following the amalgamation of the Aberystwyth Archaeological Society with the Society, it was decided to invite the Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Archaeological Section to serve on the Executive Committee. The Local Correspondents for Tregaron, Aberaeron, Lampet- er, and Cardigan were re-elected, and Mr. John H. Lewis, M.A., Llandysul, was invited to act in that capacity for Llandysul in place of the late Clr. Edward Lewis. The guest-speaker was Mr. D. Morgan Rees, M.A., Keeper of the Department of Industry, National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, who delivered an address, illustrated with slides, on Industrial Archaeology in Cardiganshire and the neighbouring counties'. This interesting address was followed by a brief discussion. A vote of thanks to the speaker, with which were coupled the names of the Chair- man and the Secretary, was proposed by Dr. Richard Phillips, Llangwyryfon, and seconded by Mr. B. G. Owens, M.A., Aberystwyth. SUMMER MEETING The Annual Field Day and Summer Meeting was held at Ponterwyd on Wednes- day, 7 July. Eighty members assembled at Neuadd Syr John Rhys, and apologies were received from thirty-four members. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr. E. D. Jones, C.B.E., B.A., F.S.A., was invited to preside, and he was congratulated on being included in the Birthday Honours List. The Honorary Secretary referred to the passing of the Right Honourable the Earl of Lisburne, who had held the office of President of the Society since 1928 and had taken an active interest in its affairs. Members stood in silent tribute to his memory. Fifty years ago to this year Sir John Rhys, the noted Celtic scholar, passed away. He was born at Aber-ceiro Fach, near Ponterwyd, of humble origins, but through his perseverance and endeavours he became the first occupant of the Chair of Celtic
