OBITUARIES Evan Glyn Davies Alderman E. Glyn Davies, O.B.E., j.p., Aberarth, had been a member of the Society for many years, and since 1954 had served on the Executive Committee. He was very interested in the history of Cardiganshire and especially in that of his native village, Aberarth, and his reminiscences of the life of bygone years were both interesting and amusing. Much of his life was devoted to the service of the community, and his many contacts were of inestimable value to the Society. His passing in June, 1967, was a severe loss to the Society and its Executive Committee, and we extend our sympathy to his widow. Reginald Francis Treharne Professor R. F. Treharne, M.A., PH.D., F.R.HIST.S., was until his retirement in June, 1967, Professor of History at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He had been a member of the Society for thirty years. When the Society was re-formed in 1946 he became a member of the Executive Committee and his advice and encourage- ment were much appreciated. A historian of international repute, his publications were many, but unfortunately we were denied the privilege of hearing him address a meeting of the Society. Yet he was an enthusiastic supporter of the study of local history, and for many years served on the Committee of The Standing Conference for Local History. It was hoped that, following his retirement, he would have been able to devote more time to the affairs of the Society, but after a prolonged illness he passed away in July, 1967, and the loss of such a distinguished historian is keenly felt by the Society. We sympathise with his widow and daughter in their grief. J.E.R.C.
