Morgan, notary public.' But intent is one thing carrying it out is another. It is more certain that there was a broken engagement, for Vol. IX of the Transactions, p. 168, prints the following 1790. (Joseph Millingchamp-d. 1741-at one time comptroller of the Customs at Cardigan, had lived with his family for many years at the Old Customs House in St. Mary's Street. At some time in the future John was to marry someone called Hester, for from the Parish Register of St. Mary's, Cardigan, we extract the following Baptism Thomas son of John Maeikeg 28 Sept. 1776. [he was to be Thomas IV] John son of John Makeig by Hester his wife was born on the thirteenth Day of September in 1776 and bap. on the seventh Day of October in 1776. Elizabeth Daughter of John Makeig was born on 4th of December 1778. Births 1781 May 21st Jane Dr. of John McKeig Gent. Mary Anne daughter of John Makeig was born on 2 of May 1783. John died intestate in December 1787, leaving a widow, these five young children, and only £ 300 to provide for their future. Thomas Makeig II's second daughter Jane, born in 1747, was to marry David Jones of Noyadd Trefawr, on the 15th October 1771, five years after her father's death. Her husband's family was one with a seafaring tradition, and during the period of the Napoleonic Wars some of them made their fortunes from privateering. Jane lived until 1824, when she died on the 19th April at Park-Gors, her husband following on the 23rd February, 1832, at the age of 85, at Plas y
