Four instances are to be found in Car- marthenshire near its boundaries with Ceredigion and Glamorgan. Otherwise, the distribution of the word as a farm-name is confined to the mountain moorlands and hill country of Mid Wales. Fig. i shows the main area of their distribution. It will be seen that in Ceredigion they occur mainly north of a line drawn broadly from Aberaeron to Lampeter. In Montgomeryshire they occur mainly west of a line drawn from Llanfyllin to Newtown.
