on the date of the construction of the roof of the cathedral, attributing it to a much later date in the 1530s rather than the fifteenth century. He also showed convincingly that the great hall at the bishop's palace had been used and occupied by Tudor and Stuart bishops for much longer than has often been supposed. One looks forward with keen interest, having heard this talk, to the publication of Canon Evans' guide to the episcopal palace at St Davids. Each of the talks was followed by lively questioning and spirited discussion in which many members of the conference participated. Altogether, it proved to be a fruitful and enjoyable occasion, the first of many such conferences it is to be hoped. This brief report would not be complete without a sincere word of thanks to the organisers, Roger Brown and John R Guy, for the admirable arrangements and also for the splendid co-operation of the authorities at Trinity College, who provided excellent accommodation and catering of the highest standard.
