WELSH RELIGIOUS HISTORY SOCIETY MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING held at Trefeca on 20th May, 2000 Professor Keith Robbins (President) was in the chair. Present were: Dr Frances Knight (Conference Secretary), The Revd Philip David (Treasurer), Mr Jenkin Thomas, The Revd Dr John Morgan-Guy (joint editor), The Revd Roger Brown (Secretary), Mr and Mrs Paul Smith, The Revd Canon Alan Luff, The Revd Michael Roberts, Dr Madeleine Gray, Dr Glyn Tegai Hughes. Apologies were received from: The Revd Mervyn Davies and Dr Chrystal Davies, Dr Fred Cowley, Dr Geraint Gruffydd, Mr Bill John, Mr Malcolm Jefferies, The Revd Norman Morris, The Revd Dorien Llywelyn, Dr David Walker, Dr P. B. Boyden, The Revd John Marsden. 1. The Minutes of the previous meeting (circulated) were agreed to be a correct record. 2. THE FUTURE OF THE SOCIETY. The President reported that a number of the officers of the Society had indicated that they did not wish to continue in office, while the number of members attending meetings of the Society was low. It was necessary to take stock about the Society's future, especially while our financial position was in a reasonable condition. The Journal was at the heart of the Society's work and achievement, while conferences were no longer sustainable. The Centre for the Advanced Study of Religion in Wales at Bangor, he understood, had decided not to establish its own journal because of the existence of our own, but had an active research agenda and publication programme. Council would be recommending at the end of the existing agenda that discussions with the Centre should take place this summer with respect to a merger between the Centre and our Society. 3. Dr John Morgan-Guy, as joint editor, reported that Dr Kathryn Jenkins wished to retire because she had now left the academic community. He wished to record his appreciation of her work. He also felt that after sixteen years of editing this, and its predecessor, it was time to step down. Volume 8 was in preparation. A separate publication, with the
