2 G. O. Williams, 'Llandovery College', Province, V/l (1954). 3 Alun Radcliffe Davies was domestic chaplain to Morgan, 1952-57, later archdeacon and then dean ofLlandaff. He was one of the very few people, and the last living one, who really knew John Morgan. He was a great deal of help with his candid reflections and sense of perspective on the subject. I am also grateful to Canon Philip J. Cousins, rector of Llandudno, for providing information about John Morgan senior. 4 Mary Moore, Winfrid Burrows, 1858-1929 (London, 1932), p. 136. These were recollections of Miss Margaret Merryweather, Burrows's secretary, who recorded that 'John Morgan was much missed by his bishop'. 5 I am grateful for the assistance of the Revd Barry W. Thomas, former rector of Llanbeblig and numerous parishioners including Mrs Elizabeth Lloyd, Mr and Mrs Lloyd Williams, Miss Violet A. Roberts and Eveline Vaughan-Davies. Some of them had retained letters from John Morgan to them over a long period. 6 W. D. G. Wilkinson, sometime archdeacon of Brecon, Swansea and Brecon, 1923- 1973: The Jubilee of the Diocese (n.d.). I Albert John Francis Lewis was curate of St John the Baptist, Cardiff, 1948-1961, and later director of Religious Education; archdeacon respectively of Margam and Llandaff. Without his insight and vivid memories this contribution would have provided a partial view of John Morgan. 12 Stanley Howard Mogford served in Llandaff from 1937-1980. During Morgan's years he was curate of Aberdare, then of Llandaff Cathedral, vicar of Cyfarthfa and St Chatherine, Pontypridd. 13 Frank Graham Jenkins was curate of Llangeinor, and minor canon of Llandaff Cathedral, later dean of Monmouth. His recollections are gladly acknowledged. 14 James Goldsworthy Keane was curate of Lavernock, 1949-1956; and organizing secretary of the Church in Wales Youth Council, 1956-1965. Later he was director of Church in Wales Publications and General Secreatry of the Provincial Education Council before becoming Chancellor of Llandaff Cathedral.
