CONTRIBUTORS HEATHER JAMES Resident in Carmarthen but working in Llandeilo, Mrs James is Principal Archaeological Officer (Curatorial) of the Dyfed Archaeological Trust. She has led all the Trust's excavations in Roman Carmarthen since its inception in 1974. She is currently Publications Secretary of the Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society. She is the editor of Sir Gar: Studies in Carmarthen- shire History (1991). ROGER TURVEY A native of the Amman Valley, Dr Turvey is currently head of the History department at Amman Valley Comprehensive School. He was awarded his doctorate for research on the history of the Perrot family of Pembrokeshire. He has published widely in academic journals and is the author of The Lord Rhys Prince of Deheubarth (1997) and The Welsh Princes, 1063-1283 (Forthcoming). He is currently completing a biography on Sir John Perrot. DILLWYN MILES Dillwyn Miles has been a burgess of the borough of Newport for sixty years and mayor four times. He has also been Mayor of Haverfordwest, a County Councillor, Sheriff and member of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. He has written and published extensively on Pembrokeshire history and natural history. He is President of the Pembrokeshire Historical Society and has been The Herald Bard of the Gorsedd of Bards of the Isle of Britain since 1966. ANDREW ROBERTS Andrew Roberts was born and brought up in Pembrokeshire. He has spent many years as a trainee and more recently as a volunteer at Pembrokeshire Record Office. SIMON HANCOCK Employed in tourism. Educated at Milford Haven Central and Grammar Schools. Interested in science of numismatics and in local history. Ellected a Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society in 1987. Has contributed to Spink's Numismatic Circular, Seaby's Coin and Medal Bulleting, and to the Coin Monthly and Coin and Medal News.
