RECENT ACCESSIONS OF MANUSCRIPT MATERIAL AT THE CARDIFF CENTRAL LIBRARY RECENT accessions of manuscript material at the Central Library have included the notebooks and papers of the late Mr. Roderick G. Williams, Bridgend. Mr. Williams was one of the founder-members of the Glamorgan Local History Society, and his interest in the heraldry, genealogy and ecclesio- logy of the County was doubtless well known to many readers of this journal. He was a recognized authority on heraldry, and a particularly noteworthy item among his papers is a collec- tion of local coats of arms which he himself had drawn and painted. Another interesting item is an unfinished autobiography. A few articles in various periodical publications constitute the whole of Mr. Williams's published work, but the material which he accumulated during more than thirty years' research on his favourite topics is available to anyone who wishes to consult it. Another accession of interest and importance to local historians is a manuscript containing chronological lists of the incumbents of every parish in the old diocese of Llandaff. Com- piled by Mrs. Augusta Rayer (wife of the Rev. G. M. W. T. Rayer, rector of St. Athan from 1906 to 1926), this manuscript provides information drawn from many varied sources. There is no work of its kind in print, and anyone working on the history of the great majority of Glamorgan parishes will find it an invaluable aid.
