NEWS FROM THE GLAMORGAN RECORD OFFICE THIS year a concerted effort was made to collect into the Record Office Tithe maps & Apportionments known to be in the custody of incumbents. We collected Tithe Awards from twenty-one parishes, mostly from Gower. In this we have had the co-operation of the Bishop of Llandaff and the Bishop of Swansea & Brecon. In addition, we have received Parish Records from numerous private owners, including Baglan Parish Overseers', Church- wardens' and Highway Surveyors' accounts 1784-1854, New- castle Parish, Highway Surveyors' accounts, 1768-1839, Llangy- felach Parish, Overseers' & Highway Surveyors' accounts 1812-94, Llangiwg Parish, Overseers' and Highway Surveyors' .rate books 1871-84. Our industrial collection has been augmented by the acquisi- tion of three large detailed account books of the Cyfarthfa Iron Works 1791-1846, a few deeds and papers of Penydarren Iron- works 1786-1833, 34 excellent photographs, taken in 1902, by R. M. Dillwyn, mining engineer, of pit-heads and surface work- ings in Glamorgan. Two new important estate collections have been received, one from Colonel W. H. C. Llewellyn, Cwrt Colman, including Margam estate account books 1857-86 (30 vols.), Ash Hall estate survey book 1745, Court Coleman lease registers, royalties and wayleave accounts 1802-1929 (59 vols.), and Llewellyn family diaries, 1794-1888 (83 small vols.), the other from Mrs. S. M. Homfray, Penlline, being Penllyn Castle estate records 1810-1937. Further, we have had (transferred from the National Library of Wales) the deeds of Boverton estate 1714-1871. Our collection of Ordnance Survey first edition 2 5 -inch plans (surveyed between 1872 & 1879), increased by 63 plans, mostly from the Court Coleman estate. A large collection of
