NEWS FROM THE GLAMORGAN RECORD OFFICE THE influx of documents into the record office is proceeding steadily. As a result of a number of exhibitions held in Llantwit Major, Neath, Penarth and Port Talbot, we have received many smaller deposits, including useful pictorial material of Penarth and district. We are now aiming to build up the collection of tithe awards. Over the past years we have received 65 of these awards either from the Parish Council or from incumbents of parishes, or from auctioneers', estate agents' and solicitors' offices, and a few were found among private estate collections. This year we have purchased photocopies of both the plans and the apportionments of 19 tithe awards, and the missing apportion- ments of 2 awards. Whilst the office already possesses the series of minute books for 62 School Boards in the County, the supporting, more detailed, background material found in these reports etc., is sadly lacking, having usually been destroyed in 1903. No large estate and family collections were received this year, but among the smaller deposits, mention should be made of 41 Bruce family deeds, 1728-1856, transferred from the National Library of Wales, and also .the various estate plans of Llandaff, c. 1770 and 1777, of Monknash, 1794, and the 62 plans of other estates, 1770-1963. We received a further deposit of Bute estate papers, including a few militia lists, 1816-17, lieutenancy records, 1817, Glamorgan election correspondence, 1825, industrial and estate accounts, 1797-1841, and the labour accounts for the weir on the river Taff at Cardiff, 1825. Account books, note books, a diary and other papers of small family businesses, were received, including those of a
