Editorial Notes During the course of the year, members were saddened to learn of the death of the Society's President, Sir Cennydd Traherne, who had served the society long and well in that office and who will be greatly missed. An obituary appears in this edition of Morgannwg. The society's Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday, 27th May 1995, at the Pontypridd Historical and Cultural Centre. As has been the custom in recent years, the venue was shared with the members of the South Wales Record Society, who also held their own Annual General Meeting. At the AGM of the Glamorgan History Society, Professor Emeritus Sir Glanmor Williams was elected to the post of President of the society, in succession to the late Sir Cennydd Traherne. Following the formal business meetings, members of both societies joined together to hear a lecture on the Fonmon Castle Archive, which was delivered by the Chairman of the Glamorgan History Society, Mrs Patricia Moore. The Annual Day School was held at Aberdare Hall, Cathays Park, Cardiff, on Saturday, 18 November 1995. The theme of this year's school was 'Music in Glamorgan'. Mr Daniel Huws, the former Keeper of Manuscripts at the National Library of Wales spoke on 'The Earliest Glamorgan Folk Songs and their Collectors', and his talk was followed by a paper on 'Choirs and Society in Glamorgan', delivered by Dr Rhidian Griffiths, the present Keeper of Printed Books at the National Library. The day school ended on an entertaining note, with a performance of 'Newly Discovered Sea Shanties' by Mike Terns and Pat Smith. The forthcoming reorganisation of local government on 1 April 1996 will have its effect upon the archive services within Glamorgan, as this issue's articles on news from the Glamorgan Record Office and West Glamorgan Archive Service clearly show. The year following reorganisation will be a critical period for archives, particularly in the eastern part of the county, and the society will need to monitor developments closely.
