PRELIMINARY NOTE. THE CARDIGANSHIRE ANTIQUARIAN SOCIETY was founded in June, 1909, and continued its work in full vigour until the breaking out of the Great War in 1914. It issued five parts of its transactions during this period, and much praise is due to the Editors, Professor E. Tyrrell Green, the Rev. E. J. Davies and Mr. D. Ernest Davies for the excellent work they carried out. In March 1922, it was decided to resuscitate the Society, and since that time meetings have been held as follows APRIL 22nd, 1922.-At Ystrad Meurig School, where a paper was read by Mr. G. Eyre Evans, and a visit was paid to the old Castle near by. JUNE 20th, 1922.-At Aberystwyth, where addresses were given by Dr. H. J. Fleure and Dr. E. Arthur Lewis on the history of Aberystwyth and its Castle. SEPTEMBER 16th, 1922.-At Hafod, where a paper on The Hafod Press, prepared by Mr. H. M. Vaughan, was read by Miss Lewes, and by the courtesy of Mr. T. J. Waddingham, the visitors were allowed to inspect the mansion and its interesting surroundings. DECEMBER 9th, 1922.­At Aberystwyth, where papers were read by Mr. David Thomas, B.A., O.B.E., Mr. Osborne Jones and Mr. D. J. Saer, on The Rural Lore of Cardiganshire." At sub- sequent meetings held at Aberystwyth, papers were read by Mr. Dudlyke, on the Prehistoric Flint Factory at Aberystwyth," and on the Place Names of Cardiganshire by Mr. Timothy Lewis, M.A. On the 9th MAY, 1923, a number of the members of the Society visited Carmarthen, and were kindly entertained by the Carmarthen- shire Antiquarian Society. They were conducted over the Museum, the Castle and St. Peter's Church, by Mr. Eyre Evans and Mr Brigstocke.
