This paper presents some assessment of the industrialisation policy undertaken by Üdarás/Gaeltarra Eireann. The princioal features and impacts of the industrialisation programme pursued in one particular Gaeltacht area are outlined first. Then some detailed analysis of the economic, social and cultural impacts of two specific enterprises within this area is presented. Finally, from the general and the specific evidence contained in the paper some conclusions are drawn about the success or otherwise of industrialisation policy in the Gaeltacht. Fig 1.
