INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS GENERAL Original research or review articles in any field of geography are invited for consideration for publication and should be sent to the Editor. Also welcome are short articles and items of news for inclusion in the 'Welsh Geographical News' section. When preparing articles for submission, authors should consult current copies of the journal and follow its style as closely as possible. MANUSCRIPTS Manuscripts should normally not exceed 7000 words and must be typewritten, double-spaced throughout, on one side of the paper, and with a wide margin. Authors should submit two copies of the manuscript. Separate sheets should be used for (1) title page with the name(s) and full institutional address(es) of the author(s), (2) an abstract not exceeding 100 words, (3) references, (4) tables with headings, (5) captions to figures. Primary, secondary and tertiary sub-headings should be clearly distinguished. FIGURES AND TABLES Each figure and table should be numbered in sequence separately. Figures should be drawn in proportion to the entire width of the type area (105rrm) Glossy black and white photographic reductions of the diagrams ready for printing should be submitted, identified on the back with the author's name and figure number. Tables should have a descriptive heading. Since large tables will be reproduced like the figures, they should be constructed in proportion. REFERENCES (a) In the text as follows (Herwitz 1987).as derronstrated by Richards and Smith (1984).as stated by Brown (1986 23).and in cases of more than two authors (Thomes et al. 1987). When citing a series of references, list in chronological order with semi-colons between individual references, e.g.(Lewis 1976 Smith 1978, 1979 Thomes et a1. 1987). (b) Reference Lists as follows Use the Harvard System with references in alphabetical order of authors. Journals should be abbreviated according to the World List of Scientific Periodicals.
