DISSERTH PARISH (NR. LLANDRINDOD WELLS). [The Editors are indebted to the Rev. D. Stedman Davies for the following notes taken from a collection of papers in the possession of Vaughan Vaughan, The Castle, Builth. The late Mr. Vaughan Vaughan, solicitor, was Clerk to the Radnorshire County Council and Clerk of Peace for many years. They are of opinion that these notes are worth recording in the Transactions for the guidance of later local historians.] DISSERTH CHURCH. 1859.-The Rev. Thomas Thomas paid J. T. Grocock for six panes in Disserth Church 1/6." This item, in one of the bills, shows the panes must have been small. THE SCHOOL. 1823.-­Two little books for teaching children one is Pinnock's Catechism of Prospective, published in 1823. 1855. — There is a Sketch of intended school on the Glebe at Disserth, estimated cost £ 100 for a room 24 ft. 6 in. by 17ft., and lift. to ceiling, with a porch at one end and three windows. 1855. — Aug. 11 A letter from Caleb Lewis, Secretary to the Trustees of Bevan's Circulating Charity Schools, appointing Thomas James Price, of Llanyre, as Master at £ 30 a year. Another paper giving an estimate for a School House 21ft. 4 in. by 19ft. wide, 7 ft. to the square two windows in front, one door finding materials, except timber and hauling, £ 38 4s. OD. No name or date mentioned. There are a few bundles of papers dealing with school bills in the collection.
