MISCELLANEA THE OLD FAIRS OF RADNORSHIRE AND ITS BORDERS A paper under the above heading appeared on pp. 52-66 of the Transactions of 1947. The following corrections and additions, from information which has come to hand since that paper was written, should be noted. BRAMPTON BRYAN (p. 53).-St. Barnabas Fair was granted by charter of Henry III in 1252. (See Wool hope Transactions 1952, p. iv.) KINGTON (p. 55).-The Easter, Whit Monday, and August fairs all existed in the early 18th century, the last on 22 July at that period, changing to 2 August after 1752, and subsequently as shown in the paper. KNIGHTON (p. 5).-Add the following fairs (1) A January fair, started on 3rd Friday in 1853, changed to 3rd Thursday in 1863. (2) A fair on the Thursday after 10 July, an important wool fair, started in 1853, in place of a fair on 21 June dating from 1826, and changed to 20 June in 1850. Fair of 6 May was mentioned in Ministers' Accounts 5-6 Richard 11(1382). NEW RADNOR (pp. 57-8).­The Trinity fair was granted by charter of Edward I in 1306; the October fair existed before that date. (See Transactions 1953, p. 37) Fair of 18 September (started 1849) was changed about 1870 to 10 September. PRESTEIGNE (pp. 58-9).­The February fair was changed to the first Friday (not Saturday) in 1895. Fair of 24 June existed in the 13th century; fair of 30 November was granted by charter of Henry III in 1225. (See Transactions 1956, pp. 43-4.) RHAYADER (p. 60).­The original dates of the August and December fairs were 16 August and 22 November. WAKES (p. 66).-Add (" from various sources ") Gladestry, last Sunday in August; Llanbadarn Fynydd, 1st Sunday in October; Llanbister, 1st Sunday in August, Llangunllo Wake finished on Monday after 1st Sunday in July.
