The said William Hay, having recovered the same, to procure more ready payment, in Trinity Term 16 James I (1619) sued forth in the Court of Star Chamber several Writs of Extent to the several Sheriffs of Radnor and Brecon, to extend the lands and goods of Defts., and came into the counties. A meeting was held with Subject Humfrey East, who desired to purchase his quiet if he could with any reason, for the lands purchased of John Probert then deceased, with Hugh John Probert and Thomas Gwatkins friends of the other Defts. for the said William Hay's satisfaction, and on 19 June, 16 James I (1619), concluded an agreement to deposit in the hands of Joseph Harding on 26 June £ 200, to remain in his hands till the said William Hay should procure some order to accept same. Further, if said Defts. paid said William Hay £ 200 more on 19 June 1619, and £ 200 more on Michaelmas day after, they should be discharged of all costs and damages. For default Pit. to have liberty to prosecute for the whole. Fraudulent attempts to defraud your Majesty with their fines by the said William Hay (set out), and he also extended the lands of the said William Thomas Prees at the yearly value of £ 5, being in fact worth £ 40 per ann. and promised to make a lease thereof to Thomas Williams a friend of the said Prees, and got £ 40 more of the said Prees, although the said Humfrey East, being none of the Defts., had already paid £ 100 part of said £ 200 for the said John Probert dec'd. Said William Hay and the others, threatened Richard John Jenkin and others of the Jury to commence a suit against them in this Court, if they would not find as he had said. Afterwards the said William Hay at Presteigne co. Radnor, met Watkin Whitney who was one of the Jury, and quarrelled with him and assaulted him. Interrogatories were exhibited into this Court, wherein the said William Hay was to be examined regarding payments made etc., and on 27 May deposed that he had received £ 200 of Sir Henry Williams, £ 5 of Elizabeth Probart, £ 10 of David ap Hugh Williams, £ 10 or thereabouts of his wife, Thomas Powell his the said William Hay's kinsman, etc. (follows a very involved story of borrowing and repayments, which does not seem to make sense).
