1341. JOAN late the wife of RICHARD TALBOT of Richard's Castle, etc. Blethevau. Extract of Extent: In the Manor of Blethevau and Castle Richard with appurts. and advow- sons is a certain capital messuage, worth nothing per ann. beyond sus- tentation of the house; one carucate of land worth nothing per ann. unless it is sown and when sown is worth 13s. 4d. because the land is uncultivated; a rent of assize worth 40s. per ann. at the Annunciation of the B.V.M. and Michaelmas, no profits there. Pleas and perquisites worth (illegible). (Inq. p.m. 14 Edward III). With the remainder to John, her son, and Juliana his wife, and the heirs of their bodies. 1355. JOHN TALBOT of Richard's Castle. I.P.M. taken at Hereford Castle the Saturday after the feast of St. Martin (10 November) 29 Edward III. The manor of Blethewagh in the cantred of Meleneth, held jointly with his wife Juliana. The said Juliana holds the aforesaid castle, advowson and manor to herself and the heirs of the body of herself and deceased. Extent. The jurors say that the said John Talbot of Richard's Castle, held of the king in chief at his death, jointly with his wife Juliana, the manor of Blechevagh in the hundred of Meleneth with appurtenances by licence of the king, and there is one ruinous messuage (a house or mansion) worth nothing. There is 100/- of rent from the free tenants at two terms in the year in equal portions. Perquisites of Court there 30/- per year 1362. JULIANA TALBOT, wife of the above John Talbot of Richard's Castle, who died in 1362. I.P.M. taken at Ludford on 5th January, 35 Edward III. Blethevagh manor was found to be held of the king in chief. Extent: The jurors say that Juliana who was the wife of John Talbot. held at her death in the Marches of Wales the manor of Blethevagh of the king in chief as parcel of the Barony of the said John Talbot, to the said Juliana and the heir of the said John and Juliana, by grant of John de Wotton and William Balle, and licence of the King. There is a messuage worth nothing. There is one carucate of land worth 40/- per year and 40/- rent of assize, payable at the said feasts. Perquisites of Court 40/- per year. John Talbot, son of the said Juliana and John, is heir aged 24 and more. 1376. JOHN TALBOT, the son mentioned above, who died in 1376. I.P.M. taken at Ludford the Wednesday after the feast of SS. Peter and Paul (29/30 June), 49 Edward III. He also held Blethevagh lordship of the king in chief as parcel of a moiety of his Barony of Burford. Extent: The jurors say that the said John Talbot of Richard's Castle was seized at his death of the lordship of Blethevagh in the Marches of Wales.
