Col. 1802: served on Continent (wounded at Dunkirk) and in the West Indies, where he purchased lands in Trinidad retired to Hardwick Court com'd Herefordshire Militia during threat of Napoleonic invasion given freedom of Hereford. m. 1806, Ann Dew (b. 1760) widow of Tompkyns Dew Esq. of Whitney Court & 2nd dau. of Rev. Armine Styleman of Ringstead, Norfolk. She d. without issue, 1823. M. I. Whitney church. Colonel Powell was bur. Clifford 26 March, 1856, having had issue, by an earlier union4 to one Mrs. E.B.'
