BOOKS RECEIVED VAVASOR POWELL, by R. Tudur Jones. Published by the Congre- gation of the Vavasor Powell Memorial Chapel at Knucklas. 1975 This small booklet has been published to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Vavasor Powell Memorial Chapel at Knucklas. The author is well-known as a historian of non-conformity in Wales and has written the most authoritative study of Vavasor Powell, which appeared in Welsh in 1971. For English readers this small work provides a succinct and balanced account of its subject's stormy career (1617-1670) set against the troubled times of the Civil Wars and their aftermath. It carries an introduction by the Reverend P. Baker, pastor of Knighton, from whom copies may be obtained (price 35p., plus postage at lip.). N.B.-The Society sometimes discovers, somewhat belatedly, that religious bodies or other organisations have published accounts of them- selves which are valuable sources of information. We should be pleased to receive copies of these publications, no matter how modest their aims may be, for inclusion in our collection of material on the county. Future researchers will be glad to have access to them. Publications should be addressed to The Hon. Editor, The Radnorshire Society, c/o The Museum, Temple Street, Llandrindod Wells. All publications received will be noticed in the annual volume of TRANSACTIONS.
