THE SIXTY-FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT The Sixty-fourth Annual General Meeting of the Radnorshire Society was held on Saturday, November 11th, 1995 at Coleg Powys, Llandrindod Wells at 2 30 pm. The President, Miss Gwen Eadie welcomed members, despite the inclement weather, to the meeting and in her address recollected her long interest in Local History and concern that it should be shared by the younger members of the County's population. She then thanked the various officers of the Society for their work over the last year before surprising the meeting with the news that she did not intend to offer herself for a third term of being president, it being her conviction that these honours, for honours they were in her eyes, should shared about. It was her intention, then, to nominate Miss Joy Ashton for elec- tion. This was readily seconded and Miss Ashton accepted office on condition that Mr Alwyn Batley should offer himself as a candidate in succession in two years' time. After several sincere appreciations of Miss Eadie's work as President and Mr John Selwyn's indefatigable labours as Secretary over the last four years, the meeting moved on to hear the reports of its various officers. THE HONORARY SECRETARY'S REPORT This is my last report as your Secretary and once again I am reminded how quickly a year passes. The main task each year is to arrange the lecture programme and this is difficult as I believe a variety of topics is essential. On the whole the 1995 programme was varied and the towns visited supplied good audiences who appreciated the efforts made by the lecturers to inter- est and educate. At Knighton Dr Colin Hughes gave an illustrated talk on the histo- ry of schools in the area. Dr Hughes never fails to interest and amuse his audience and this was no exception. Anecdotes and entries from school log books of years long gone never fail to entertain. The lecture at Llandrindod nearly provided an occasion that every organiser dreads- the projector failed to project! Fortunately one of our members in the audience lived nearby and was able to dash home and return with his projector!
