disappeared because the Welsh staff are on holiday. This company en- tered into an agreement to present television programmes in Welsh but it is significant that apart from an occasional bilingual musical pro- gramme on Sundays at 6.15 pm (when many Welsh viewers are in church and chapel) it has presented no programme in Welsh after 5.0 pm. The impact of radio and television upon any community must have far-reaching results If the BBC and and itv continue to treat Wales as part of an English region, the effect upon our language and culture will be catastrophic. An adequate and suitable television service for Wales is urgently neces- sary and we certainly cannot afford to await a new BBC Charter before it is established.
