An Actor on Welsh Politics MEREDITH EDWARDS MR lane -j ones' ARTICLE was most vitriolic-full of hatred and misinterpreted quotations; indeed all the things he accused 'Y Blaid' of saying, doing, and being. For an educated young man-rather un- worthy. He should learn to think straight if he wants to be a democrat, and should not base his politics on assumption, but on facts. He accuses 'Y Blaid' of being anti-English, which is untrue, and reserves to himself the right of being violently anti- welsh-as a kind of sedative, I suppose. Mr Lane-Jones must face up to the fact that he is a Tory. Mr Hooson writes 'Two Liberals in three turn Tory' and 'How small is the dif- ference between Liberal and Tory' AND 'We must make our Party their Party'. These two should get together; they are already united in their hatred of 'Y Blaid'. Mr Lane-Jones (Mr Hooson) will have to come to terms with 'Nationalism' sooner or later-they must be practical politicians and face realities-because nations are wanting to be free all over the world; free to make their mistakes in their own way, just as children in a family, when they grow up, wish to go their own way, and resent parents who say 'This is good for you'. England may be right and all these other peoples wrong, but that's the way it is. Mr Lane-Jones doesn't think much of Ghana (Welsh Liberals usually believe in free- dom for evreyone but the Welsh)-and agrees with the English attack on Suez. Does he, I wonder, condone the Russian attack on Hungary. If he approves of Suez and disapproves of Hungary, then he is biased- biased in favour of England-and that is English Nationalism- English Toryism. He says, 'This is the age of Inter-Nationalism'. We in 'Y Blaid' wish to God it were, and that is why we are fighting for free- dom for our country, because we do believe with Principal Roberts in 'Wales for the World'. Her contribution to the world would be greater as a free member of the family of nations. At the moment we are tied to Suez efforts, Nyasaland, Cyprus, and hydrogen bombs whether we like it or not.
