never look at her again after a lie like that, said Josi. Tell her a bigger lie then, I said, tell her you are dead. Aye, said Will, and you needn't ever see her again. 'All the telegram said was: Josi passed away. Will. Fair play to Miss Coles, she sent a wreath. What did we do with it? We were lucky. Will managed to sell it in Cardigan Market and we all drank Miss Coles' health with the money. I was thinking of all this as I walked behind Josi's coffm today.' The old man sighed. They are Mrs Ann Davies Thomas, conductor of the Welsh American Goodwill Chorus, who will be competing at the National Eisteddfod of Wales at Caernarvon in August and at the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen too, and Mrs Estelle Roberts Schubert, the accompanist. She lives in Menlo Park, California, and at present is in charge of five choirs. She is the first and only woman to direct the Regional and National Cyman- faoedd Ganu in America and Canada. She is an organist, composer, arranger and choral director of high repute. In 1949 she earned the distinction of playing the great Tabernacle organ-the second largest in the world-at Salt Lake City. Mrs Estelle Schubert is a native of Colwyn Bay, and she is musical director and organist at the First Lutheran Church of Berwyn, Illinois. She has been accompanist at many Welsh functions in Chicago and organist at a number of National Cymanfaoedd Ganu.
