November: Members attended the Clwyd Local History Council's Day School at Theatr Clwyd, Mold: 'They made a home in Clwyd'. Dr W. T. R. Pryce, Mr W. C. Wynne-Woodhouse, Mr S. Blackwell and Mr D. Castledine gave a series of talks on immigration into the county. Lecture at the Scala, Prestatyn, by Mr Eryl Rothwell Hughes, B.Sc. 'Daily life in Elizabethan North Wales'. December: The Society acted as joint host with the Denbighshire Historical Society at the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust's AGM in Prestatyn. After the business meeting there was an excellent series of talks on the Trust's work during the year, and an exhibition was staged illustrating different aspects of the Trust's activities. The afternoon ended with tea and biscuits provided by the Flintshire Historical Society. We are very grateful to all the lecturers and leaders of excursions and field trips and also to all those who allowed us to visit their houses and churches. Wrexham Maelor BC Leisure and Recreation (Museum) Sub-Committee: Mrs I. M. Read. Mrs E. M. Wild and the Secretary were amongst those who attended a reception held at the Clwyd Record Office, Hawarden, to launch the Guide to the Parish Records of Clwyd, which gives details of the records of 148 parishes, most of which are now deposited at the Ruthin or Hawarden Record Offices. Mr D. Bell has been elected to the executive committee of the Council for British Archaeology (Wales). Mr Kenneth Lloyd Gruffydd and the Secretary have, between them, managed to attend most of the monthly meetings of the Delyn Conservation Area Advisory Committee. This is made up of representatives of local organisations which have an interest in the conservation of the architectural and historical heritage as well as local people from the areas concerned. It looks at planning applications for the sixteen designated conservation areas in Delyn, and its comments are amongst those taken into account by the borough planning committee and its officers. In addition to its participation in the above committee, the Society does, from time to time, make its own comments on planning proposals which affect historic buildings in the districts which make up the old county of Flintshire. The Wrexham Maelor Museum Sub-Committee, on which the Secretary is the Society's nominee, is concerned with the joint initiative which the borough council has set up with .the Council of Museums in Wales to establish a local social history museum in the town.
