The details have not yet been worked out but in the autumn Dr. Elfyn Hughes of Nature Conservancy will give an illustrated talk about the Cwm Idwal Nature Reserve and this will be followed up in the spring by a conducted tour of the Reserve when it is hoped to see some of the rare mountain plants to be found there. M.V. "MAYFLOWER" We very much regret to report the total loss of the M.V. Mayflower at Skomer on the 29th of July. She was at that time under hire to Lieutenant F. Alsop and a crew of two, under the usual charter agreement with our Yacht Committee. It should be pointed out that no-one not competent to navigate the Mayflower has been allowed to do so. Lt. Alsop, who is attached to the Naval Establishment at Kete, is a competent navigator and we had con- siderable confidence in his ability as a sailor and navigator. It is difficult to attach blame therefore to him for the loss of the May- flower, which was due to the exceptional circumstances of a sudden switch of wind from a light south or west wind on the 28th to a
