Control of Rats and Mice. By R. A. DAvis. Bulletin No. 181, Min. of Agr., Fish & Food, London. 1961. 4s. This useful bulletin, received for review, is recommended as an up-to-date account of modern control methods, of which poisoning with warfarin, a crystalline solid, mixed at the rate of 0-1 to 0-5 per cent with oatmeal, sugar and glycerine, is considered to be the most effective and the least dangerous to other wild animals. However, poisoned bait must be hidden in containers where only rats and mice can enter. The reader is shown how to construct these containers. Away from buildings, in open country, fumigation and gassing may be more successful. R.M.L. WEST WALES NATURALISTS' TRUST The Rt. Hon. LORD MERTHYR, T.D., J.P. Hon.
