Welsh Birds: National Museum of Wales: 10p., is a third and enlarged edition of a selection of 33 photographs of birds seen in Wales taken from the collection of 2,700 negatives, by Arthur Brooke the Builth Wells watch- maker-photographer, now housed in the Department of Zoology at the National Museum. The 1950 estimate of 9,000 pairs of Gannets on Grassholm is out-of-date and there are later figures for heronries than 1954. Eggs of British Birds: National Museum of Wales: 35p., was originally written by Colin Matheson, former Keeper of Zoology at the National Museum, and is now revised by the present Keeper, J. M. Bateman. It deals with the egg collection at the Museum to which was added, in 1971, the fine collection of eggs of Pembrokeshire birds which formerly belonged to the late Capt. J. H. Howell. The National Museum of Wales has reprinted a number of articles from its bulletin, Amgueddfa, at 20p each, including Fossil Plants from Wales (Michael G. Bassett), In Search of Welsh Trilobites (Robert M. Owens), Investigating and Identifying Minerals (D. Emlyn Evans), and 'Formed Stones', Folklore and Fossils (Michael G. Bassett). D. M.
