The Journal. The decision to start a Journal in connection with the Welsh Bibliographical Society was not arrived at until every other form of interchange of knowledge between the members had been found impracticable. The matter of such a Journal must of necessity be dry and uninteresting to all who are not concerned with the collection of Books, even though they may be lovers of literature. It is not, therefore, without con- siderable concern, that the Committee has launched upon this venture and its success will depend very largely upon the extent to which the members will contribute and ask for information. In this number we do not print many queries, but we have no doubt that as time goes on a great part of the Journal will be devoted to questions and answers on matters relating to Welsh literature. There are certain headings which we mean to continue regularly in addition to articles which may be received from time to time on special subjects. It is our intention, for instance, to produce in each issue an article on some of the well-known collectors of Welsh books, such as Mr. Breese of Portmadoc, Mr. Salisbury of Chester, Rev. Rowland Williams, Rev. Robert Jones, Rotherhithe, Rev. Moses Williams, Rev. J. Jenkins, Kerry, Gwallter Mechain, Sir T. Philipps, J. Lloyd, Wygfair, Richard Williams, Newtown, Mr. Wooding, The Reeses of Ton, Richard Morris, Mr. E. H. Owen of Carnarvon and many others. Biblio- graphies of Counties and Parishes, of the writings of famous Welshmen, of Religious Denominations, of subjects such as Education, Agriculture, Medicine, etc., will be very accept- able. The very valuable contribution made by the Rev. M. H. Jones in this issue has crowded out some material which we hope to utilize in the next number. We shall also be very glad of any hints and suggestions, and hope to obtain the ready support of all the members in making the Journal an effective means of exchanging information, and of adding to our general stock of knowledge on Welsh books.
