Notes and Queries. QUERIES. Query 56. Wewh LEXICOGRAPHERS.-Is there any book or article published which deals with Welsh, Welsh-English and English- Welsh Dictionaries, and their authors ? Who was W. Evans, for whom John Ross printed and published a Welsh-English Dictionary in the 18th century ? EVAN E. MORGAN, Brecon. Query 57. Two BRITISH AUTHORS, &c.-The Rev. Thomas Richards of Coychurch, in his Welsh-English Dictionary, gives a list of British Authors, &c.' in which he mentions the names of 'Sion Thomas, Brecknock, 1730,' and 'Thomas Jones, Talgarth, Brecon, 1700.' Is any account now obtainable of these authors, as I suppose them to have been ? Evan E. MORGAN, Brecon. Query 58. WELSH MAPS.-Are there any instances of the compila- tion of maps of Estates and Farms on which the information given is in Welsh ? EVAN E. MORGAN, Brecon. Query 59.-1 am making a list of Glamorgan book-plates, and especially of those associated with the Swansea district. The king of my collection is a rarity of 1698. Will those who possess speci- mens kindly communicate ? I should like also to repeat my request for particulars of books, circulars, or bills, printed at Swansea or Neath at the end of the eighteenth and beginning of the nineteenth century. D. Rhys Phtixips, Swansea. Query 60. Cydymmaith i'r Allor. I have a copy of the 1753 edition, translated by Moses Williams, and printed at Shrewsbury by Thomas Durston. In Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry, it is stated that this is the 2nd edition o leiaf,' while the Cardiff Catalogue gives it as the 3rd edition. Is there any record of a previous edition besides the first in 1715-or were there two editions in 1753 ? A. IVOR PARRY, Pontypridd. Query 61.­What is the history of the publication of the map, 'Cambriae Typus,' by Humphrey Llwyd (1527-1568). In his notice of Llwyd in the Dictionary of National Biography, Mr. D. Lleufer Thomas mentions this as one of the earliest maps of Wales,' and states that 'copies of it are preserved at the British Museum and the Cardiff Museum.' The example now before me stretches across the third and fourth pages of a folio, on the first page of which commences a description or history, in French, of Cambria, ou Wallia.' Is the latter a part of the French edition of Ortelius's Ancient Geography'? Hygad Enwyn.
