The Chairman then called upon Mr. Evan D. Jones, B.A., Keeper of the Manuscripts and Records at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, to read his paper on 'Ambell gip ar Geredigion (' Some glimpses of Cardiganshire '). This proved to be an interesting survey of fifteenth century bardic eulogies of Cardiganshire and of the MS. diaries of a number of English travellers who had visited the county during the 18th and on to the early 19th century. Incidents grave and gay, the customs of the country, the amenities of town and wayside inns were assembled and reviewed, and in all this the tastes and eccentricities of the travellers themselves came into view. In moving a vote of thanks to the lecturer, Mr. Bob Owen, M.A., of Croesor, expressed his delight in listening to the comments of passing travellers, who had enriched their minds at the expense of their pockets in roaming over the Principality. Dr. H. Elvet Lewis, seconding the vote, observed that it was an interesting exercise to follow the footsteps of those who travelled by coach or chaise from county to county in Wales; there were many of them, and their observations provided much amusing and in- formative material for local historians. He was pleased to think that historical material of this kind was being assembled at the National Library of Wales, for the use and dedication of the present and future generations. He had greatly enjoyed Mr. Jones's paper. The Chairman warmly supported the tribute to Mr. E. D. Jones. D. R. P.
