To the hon'ble the Com. for compounding-Humble Petic'oh of Morris Matthews Minister of ye Gospell,-Humbly sheweth -That about October 1641 the late B'pp of St. Asaph demised unto Robert Matthews Esqr yo'r Pet'rs late Brother dec'd, the tythes of Blodwel in ye County of Salop for ye tearme of 21 yeares in trust neverthelesse for yo'r Pet'r. who had the form'r interest therein. — That of late the sayd tythes have been seqd as pte of the Estate of the sayd Robert "Matthews. — That forasmuch as yo'r petr. is a person who adheared to ye late Parleament and was alwaies active against the late Kinge and his party and able to make it appeare that the lease was made in trust for yo'r petr. as aforesaid and yt it is the greatest part of his subsistence and livelyhood.-His humble suit unto yo'r honrs is that yor' hon'rs will be pleased either to take off the sayd seqn. as touching the sayd tythes or el's to refeare the reason concerning the sa'd trust to yo'r committee of seq'ns. for ye sayd County of Salop that they maie certifie yo'r honrs of the truth thereof that he yo'r petr may be released accord- ing payd to yo'r Petr for a yeare or two accordingly. But they liveing farr remote from that place yo'r Petr's by the appointment of ye sa'd sequestrators let ye same tythes them- selves and reed the rent for the same six or seven yeares without interrup'con. Till about August last one Maurice Matthews, clerke, brother of ye sayd Robert Matthews (ye sayd Robert being deceased pr'tending some tytle to ye sayd tythes though in truth he had none) cleared this tythe before your humble petr and procured yo'r ord'r to the sub. com. of ye sayd County whereby they were required to set ye sayd tythes to him for one yeare at ye same rent for wh they before were sett alleadging that there was none eomd clayme any tytle thereunto but himselfe, and und'r cullor thereof had now sett ye same tythes to ye inhabitants of Blodwell, he giving some security to save them harmlesse thereby your petrs are
