MONTGOMERYSHIRE COLLECTIONS. Vol. XL. PREFACE. It is hoped that the decision to revert to the former larger type in printing this number will meet with the approval of our members. Thanks are due to Archceologia Cambrensis for the reprints of the Excavations at the Forden Gaer from Vol. LXXXIL, part 2. We are glad to publish the appendix by Mr. T. Davies Pryce it is interesting to note the correctness of the diagnosis made by him from the Potsherds picked up several years ago. For the most part we have been committed, in publishing material, to manuscripts in the hands of the Club. At a Sub-Committee, held a few years ago, it was sug- gested that a statement of the origin -and purpose of The Powys-land Club" should be prepared; and Mr. Walter Millard was delegated to do so. We are glad to publish here this essay, which will, we trust, serve to remind members of the Club's task, and of the widening scope of our interests.
