The Mostyns ot Dolycorsllwyn, Cemmaes. By J. B. WILLANS. In August, 1931, I noticed a tablet on the south wall of the south aisle of Worcester Cathedral, and directly opposite the principal entrance, to a member of the above family. The inscription is as follows M.S. Franciscae Uxoris percharitsimae Richardi Mostyne de Dolecorslwyne in Comitatu Montgom Armigeri filiae natu maximae Tho Brend de Mosley-Hall in Comitatu Surriae Armigeri, primogeniti Mathaei Brend Equitis Aurati, quae ad hanc Urbe una cum Conjuge suo ab Urbe venit principe assines suos in Wallia cupida videndi, sed heu gravi subito correpta morbo ad Caelestem illico requiem sitiens aeternam remigravit patriam Septemb 23 salutis 1678. In Cemmaes church there is another tablet to the family. It is on the south side of the altar, within the altar rails. It is of the style typical of the mid-eighteenth century with a cupid below. It runs as follows Sacred to the memory of Colonel Roger Mostyn and Elizabeth his wife He was ye youngest son of Sir Roger Mostyn of Mostyn, Knt. She ye only daughter and heiress of Richard Pugh of Dolycorsllwyn in ye county of Montgomery, Esq. Several of their children died infants. Three survived them Richard, their heir, killed in an Rencounter at Dover. Bridget and Mary who both died unmarried.
