The two Wards would no doubt contain minor wooden buildings for the garrison such as dining hall, kitchen buttery, pantry, stable, etc. At the close of the visit the setting sun lit up the site giving an added charm to these romantic ruins. During the afternoon an excellent tea was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Williams at the Boot Hotel, Northop, and at the end of the day, Mr. Pennant- Williams, F.S.A., Chairman of the Society, passed a vote of thanks to Miss Glynne-Jones, the excursion secretary and to the leader, Mr. George Lloyd.
