EDITORIAL The Centenary Year of the Powys-land Club sees some changes in the composition of the Council. Mr. J. D. K. Lloyd resigned from the post of Hon. Secretary which he had held since 1937, a period of thirty years. His time as Secretary saw many vicissitudes in the life of the Club but due to his untiring devotion and ability many difficulties were overcome and the Club enters on its second century with a confidence which owes much to his advice and guidance. In addition to his secretarial duties Mr. Lloyd also found time to write a large number of articles for the Montgomeryshire Collections. To show its appreciation of Mr. Lloyd's services, the Council has elected him a Vice-President of the Club. He is succeeded as Hon. Secretary by Mr. J. Iorwerth Davies, A.L.A., the County Librarian. Mr. N. W. Brookes, the Hon. Treasurer, has left the county and resigned from this office. For nine years Mr. Brookes carried out his duties with a courteous efficiency which made it a pleasure for members of the Council to work with him. The Council expresses its thanks to Mr. Brookes and wishes him well in his new post. Mr. M. J. Goulbourne who succeeds Mr. Brookes as manager of the Welsh- pool branch of Lloyds Bank Ltd. has undertaken the duties of Treasurer. At a recent meeting, the Council sanctioned the inclusion in the Montgomery- shire Collections of a contribution in the Welsh language. The present volume contains an article by a distinguished student of Welsh literature and history who is herself a native of the county.
