POWIS CASTLE: THE OUTER BAILEY C.J. ARNOLD Excavation and recording in the south corner of the Outer Bailey of Powis Castle in 1984-5 demonstrated the predictable existence of curtain walls on the south-east and south- west sides of the bailey and a south corner tower (Arnold 1986). Earlier and more recent consolidation work by the National Trust has provided additional evidence regarding the Outer Bailey. Figure 1.
