Memorial to Thomas Powell The Club submitted a petition, dated 25 November 1991, to the Diocesan Court of St Asaph, seeking a faculty to erect a monument to Thomas Powell, the chartist, on the wall of St Mary's Church, Newtown. It is hoped that the monument will be erected some time in 1992, to perpetuate the memory of this forgotten Newtown figure. Finally, the Club has been indebted to Mrs Peggy Barfoot of Machynlleth for agreeing to become the Club's Hon. Excursions Secretary. W.G.J.H. The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Powis presents a copy of 'Chancery Court Pleadings Relating to Montgomeryshir to the compiler, John W. Davies, watched by Mr Murray Ll. Chapman, 30 November 1991.
