MEMORIAL TO HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF NORFOLK MY LORD DUKE I have the honour to represent Unto Your Grace that following a proposal bearing date the First day of March 1867 seventy two persons did establish a Club known as The Powysland Club having as its principal aims the collecting and printing of the historical, archaeological, ecclesiastical, genealogical, topographical and literary remains of Montgomeryshire and its borders, the promoting of the study of the geology, geography and history of the same and the sponsoring of archaeological excavations and research. That the Powysland Club was duly registered under the Charities Act on the Twenty second day of January 1979. That the affairs of the Powysland Club are managed by a Council which is desirous of having Armorial Bearings duly assigned at the The Powysland Club and we therefore as President and Chairman of the Council and on behalf of the said Council have the honour to request the favour of Your Grace's Warrant to the Kings of Arms for their granting and assigning such Arms and Crest and in the same Patent such device or Badge as they may consider fit and proper to be borne and used by The Powysland Club on its Common Seal or otherwise according to the Laws of Arms.
