The work of the editor and printer will be made much easier if authors will kindly adhere to the following rules in preparing their articles. 1. Articles should by typed in double spacing on one side only of A4 paper. A computer disk of the article should also be submitted if possible. A variety of formats can be accepted, but please state the file names, the disk operating system, and the word-processing programme used. 2. References may either take the form of footnotes or should follow the Harvard system. Please follow the layout and punctuation given in this volume. Footnotes should be numbered con- secutively (not by page) and typed all together at the end of the article. 3. Drawings should be designed with the page pro- portions of this volume in mind. They should already be lettered (excluding figure numbers which will be printed separately); line thick- nesses and lettering should be at a size which will be legible when reduced. Drawings should nor- mally be submitted at a size to allow for a reduc- tion of between about 50% and 25% linear. Large fold-out drawings can only rarely be ac- cepted. 4. Photographs should be on glossy paper, at least as large as the size at which they will be repro- duced. 5. Illustrations will be separately numbered for each article and should be indicated in the type- script. Please make sure that drawings and pho- tographs are numbered. 6. Galley proofs are normally sent to authors and must be returned promptly. Authors are reminded that galley proofs are for checking only; altera- tions to the original text should be avoided if possible and will be at the discretion of the editor. Page proofs are not normally sent to authors except in the case of difficult specialist articles. Honorary Editors Golygyddion Mygedol W.J.
